PB Ag Consulting Pty Ltd are again offering their fruit brokering service for the vintage 2006-2007. This list has been carefully put together to allow for easy access to available fruit in Mudgee, Hunter, Cowra, Orange and Canberra regions. Drought, frost and hail has put pressure on available tonnes for this vintage and as the drought continues yields are expected to be further reduced.
The fruit list we have collated represents a sample of quality fruit from committed growers who have been focused on sound vineyard management in what has been difficult times in the industry.
Crops are expected to be drastically reduced this vintage, if you are requiring additional quality fruit please take the time to view our fruit register and contact Paul for any questions or further information on details listed below.

Vintage 2006-2007 Update
Extremely dry conditions across all regions, minimal rain fall has been recorded since July/ August 2006 and earlier in some cases. Dry winter followed by severe frost in many of the premium regions and continued drought with strong winds has greatly impacted on yields. Winds and lack of water at flowering has affected early canopy growth along with poor fruit set in some varieties, on top of this plague thrip populations have been quite high which has resulted in berry being aborted at fruit set. Early yield estimations are indicating bunch numbers are on par to marginally below average but bunch weight in most cases are 25-30% lighter then in average years. This bunch weight and coupled with drought and frost are indicating fruit production will be considerably lower in vintage 2007
Pest and disease pressure has been varied, early vine moth populations were quite high but controlled, LBAM are noticeable in some regions but again numbers generally lower and be controlled. katydid numbers and wingless grass hoppers are building up with damage to date below threshold levels, isolated areas have seen above average damaged from wingless grass hoppers and mainly isolated to younger vines. Minimal downy mildew recorded although odd breakouts in suckers an hanging canopies has been found. Powdery Mildew pressure has been extremely high, sulphurs and early DMI sprays have been widely applied however over the last 10-14 days outbreaks of powdery have been found in most regions.
Water is a major issue in most regions, allocations have been cut and further reductions are likely, these further allocation reductions which are being discussed are thought to be implemented early in the New year which again will put further pressure on finishing crop. Careful irrigation scheduling has to be considered to assist in giving the vine the best chance of ripening fruit.
